| Prayer Shawl Ministry|
The Prayer Shawl Ministry was created to knit or crochet shawls, blankets and scarves to bring comfort and peace to the recipient. We also have the most wonderful knitted teddy bears to bring comfort to the little ones, or as a gift for being a new big brother or sister.
Meetings are held on the First Friday of each month at 1:30 pm at Patty’s house, 56 Maitland Road, Stamford.
For more informatioon, see our Prayer Shawl brochure or call Patty Catino, 203-655-3303.
Why do we give these gifts?. There are so many reasons. We give the shawls to persons undergoing surgery or recovering from surgery or someone who has suffered a loss. Our shawls and blankets are also given to celebrate a new birth or a special occasion. There are endless reasons we might want to give someone a shawl.
Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted as attested to by the thank you notes we receive. The recipients feel such comfort and look forward to wearing their shawls or scarves in their time of need or during their times of celebration.
We are currently trying to form a group of ladies who would love to knit baby blankets for all our new babies on their Christening Day.
Who joins the group?. Ladies from all parishes who love to knit or who want to learn how to knit or crochet.
Where and when are the meetings held?. Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month. Some ladies love to knit and crochet but cannot attend the meetings. We are happy to have your creations and will pick up your knitted or crochet shawls at your convenience. There is never a time limit for your work. There are no requirements. We are happy to accept your gift of a shawl, blanket or scarf.
Before we begin our shawls at home or at our meetings, we say a prayer that our yarn and our work is blessed and that the recipient feels the loving comfort and peace of our Lord.
You and your friends are welcome to join our Knitting and Crochet Group.
