For 7 years before she came to St. Thomas More, she was the Director of Faith Formation at St. Maurice Church in Stamford, where her ministry included directing K-8, Sacraments, RCIA coordinator, and the Youth Group. Janis came from a corporate background in advertising and marketing and owned a graphics and advertising business called Studio 32 located in Stamford. Janis' undergraduate degree is from Sacred Heart University in psychology, and her Masters work was done at Fairfield University in counseling at the middle school level. Janis attends national and regional educational conferences and courses to continue her own religious formation. Janis was a trustee of Sacred Heart University. Appointed by Mayor Thom Serrani to the Coliseum Authority in Stamford, she originated, organized, planned, and promoted the first marathon in Stamford which continued for 7 years. Currently, she is secretary of CLDB (Catechetical Leaders of the Diocese of Bridgeport). Says Janis: "I love planning events and working with our teens …it keeps me young!" |
