 | Saint Augustine Medals of Service |
Since 2005, Bishop William E. Lori has bestowed the annual "Saint Augustine Medals of Service," honoring the extraordinary volunteer contributions of lay women and men throughout Fairfield County, the "unsung heroes" in our midst. The Medal is presented to an individual or couple in each of the 87 parishes in Fairfield County, as well as four areas of Catholic Charities. Following is a list of recipients from Saint Thomas More Church, with comments by our Pastor.
2011: Bob Gartelman. "For many years Bob has been an exceptional volunteer here at our Parish and he is a model for stewardship. Every parishioner of St. Thomas benefits from his generosity and kindness."
2010: Kevin and Jeannine Gallagher. "Started and helped organize a Golf Tournament, which for over ten years now has raised funds to build homes in Appalachia, Kentucky, for needy families."
2009: Margaret and Thomas Byrne. "Peg is our RCIA Coordinator. Tom was on our Finance Council and Outreach Committee."
2008: Tom Bell. "Tom has served as Pastoral Council
chairman, RCIA team
member and Sponsor. He is a Lector, a Eucharistic
Minister, and coordinates the
Darien Professionals Network."
2007: Anne and Paul Murray. "Anne and Paul are Eucharistic Ministers, cooks at the New Covenant House soup kitchen, and supporters of the Thomas More Center in Wisconsin."
2006: Lennis Koontz. "Lennis has served as Pastoral Council president, Finance Council chairman, and financial advisor to Catholic Schools."
2005: Vicki LeBris. “As coordinator of the RCIA program, Vicki does a wonderful job guiding
participants on their spiritual journey.”
