St. Thomas More    Material Girls

WHO are the Material Girls? Girls who love to sew, or who would love to learn how to sew.

WHAT do we do? We learn to sew, make quilts, tie bows and knots, and many wonderful things.

We learn how to use a pattern to make a pair of PJ’s, or an apron, a pillowcase, or a tote bag. So many wonderful creations.

We listen to our music and have lots of snacks.

We say a prayer that everyone is blessed, healthy and safe. We also learn patience, responsibility, and compassion for those who are in need of our quilts.

WHY do the Material Girls sew and make quilts? Some things we make are for children who are in need of comfort. Maybe they are recovering from surgery and need a little shawl to keep them warm.

We make quilts for new babies.

We make many wonderful things for many reasons!

Sign up for a delightful experience! Bring a sister or a friend.

WHEN and WHERE do we meet? The second Saturday of each month from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the St. Thomas More Pastoral Center.

For more information, call Patty Catino, 203-355-9321.

CAN YOU TIE A KNOT

Can you tie a knot?
Can you tie a bow?
Can you even sew?
Did you know a knot or a bow,
Or even a little sew,
Can make a shape
All in a row.
Up and down
Or all around.
A shape in blue, purple or brown.
You may think
What can this be?
Its shape created by you and me.
A quilt so small,
A Quilt so big,
A quilt so tall,
You can put it on your wall.
But most of all the quilt could be,
God’s blessings for you and blessings for me.
Join the MATERIAL GIRLS
And you will see the shape of fun
For everyone.
For God’s blessings and grace
We will pray,
So when you’re done,
You can take,
A little knot
A little bow
A little sew
Full of grace for you to know,
God’s blessings are with you when you go!
