.Feed My Starving Children. One thousand volunteers will work in 2-hour shifts at Middlesex Middle School to package 225,000 life-saving FMSC meals, to be shipped to starving children in over 60 countries, to share Jesus’ love and to give them hope for the future. This event is being hosted by every church in Darien and co-sponsored by the Council of Darien School Parents. The food we packed last year was sent to Love A Child Orphanage in Haiti and this gave us a personal connection with them as they suffered through the earthquake. It gave us the opportunity to respond to their need in a personal way and build relationships as we served them and God, through our actions, sending them emergency supplies and praying for them.

This year we are running a Friday night shift as well as a full day on Saturday and two afternoon shifts on Sunday. We hope to have volunteers from every part of the community and are especially reaching out to the youth and encouraging athletes to sign up with their teammates. Volunteer sign-up for 2 hour shifts will be available on a first come first served basis beginning September 5th. All of the food packed for our event will again go to Love a Child Orphanage in Haiti.

Along with the need for volunteers and in order to further participate with this event, M&M Tubes will be available for any interested parishioners after Sunday Masses. After emptying (enjoying) the contents, when returned, each tube represents $14.00 in loose change (quarters) when filled which is enough to feed 82 children. We are continuing to press on towards our target of $38,250 to pack 225,000 meals and are so far over half way there.

To sign up for the packing event, go to FMSC Sign-Up. Checks can be made payable to FMSC with the event code 1010-42 in the memo line. Drop off at the STM Church office or donate online at www.fmsc.org noting the event code 1010-42 on the info line. For more information about FMSC go to Feed My Starving Children or contact Gregory Saba at saba_gj@yahoo.com.
