Role of the Council. The Pastoral Council is a representative group of the entire parish, organized in such a way that all the voices of the parish can be heard and somehow responded to. It also serves as a means for the pastor and the parish staff to test their own ideas and proposals with a group that reflects the whole parish community. While the Pastoral Council holds a consultative and advisory role, it is not a legislative body.

Meetings. The Pastoral Council meets in the Rectory Annex at 8 pm on the third Wednesday of each month, unless special circumstances call for a different date to be set. Meetings are usually not held in the summer months. Meetings usually adjourn between 9 and 9:30pm.
Becoming a Member. If you would like to participate as a member of the Pastoral Council, or if you know of someone who would be qualified and perhaps interested and willing to do so, please contact Father Furey or Walt Donovan. Membership on the Pastoral Council is handled through appointment rather than through parish-wide elections.
Communication Committee. Responsibilities: Encouragement and support for any and all processes of communication within the parish. Also to encourage and if possible, arrange for coverage of the parish in local and diocesan newspapers and media.
Education Committee. Rev. Robert J. Post, Chairperson. Responsibilities: Interpret and articulate the teaching mission of the Church to the people of the parish, plan and provide programs to support parents in their role as providers of Christian education for their children, assess and address educational need at each level - preschool, K-5 elementary, 6-9 (through Confirmation), 10-12 and adult, assist the pastor and parish community appropriately to prepare children and young adults for the sacraments.
Buildings and Grounds Committee. Responsibilities: Development of maintenance and capital programs for repairs and additions to parish property with appropriate cost estimates, preparation of five-year forecasts and prioritization in cooperation with the finance committee, ongoing inspection of parish facilities including landscaping, grounds care and buildings.
Parish Services Committee. Responsibilities: Creation and implementation of programs in support of the social mission of the parish, review of parish involvement in social affairs, initiation and sponsorship of social activities within the parish, the welcoming of new parishioners, coordination as appropriate of ecumenical activities within the parish.
