Our Church
The structure of the church building is an embracing one that brings congregants close to the altar, encouraging active participation in liturgical worship.
Integral to the design are the stained glass windows illuminating the biblical message. The windows on the left tell of God's promise in the Old Testament, while the windows on the right reflect the fulfillment of His message in the New Testament.
Three bas-reliefs ornament the interior. Above the altar the Trinity is depicted and bears the inscription "I Am" and the Greek letters alpha and omega -- "the beginning and the end." The Nativity is portrayed in the Chapel of Our Blessed Lady; and in the St. Thomas More Shrine, the saint and his family are represented.
The concepts of unity and eternity are symbolized by the metal circles supporting the altar. Two metal semi-circles form the base of the baptismal font signifying the breaking of bread and salvation. The pulpit bears the ancient marks of the four Gospel writers. Traditionally, all four are winged and derive from Old and New Testament citations -
Ezekial 1:10,11;
Revelation 4:7,8.
The human face is identified with Matthew, the ox with Luke, the lion with Mark and the eagle with John.
